Fasting: A new alternative for weight loss

‘Fasting has been reported to be effective for fat loss’ say industry insiders.

Fasting appears to be the newest weapon in the ‘battle of the bulges’ as research continues to be done and interpreted again and again. Fasting has been a discipline that many different people have utilized at different times. Some do it as a form of ritual purification, some as a means of attaining favor with the gods they worship, and some simply as a way of getting rid of toxins in the body.

Fasting takes many forms, such as total fasts, known as ‘Black Fasts’ among some communities, while others may choose to limit themselves in certain areas only, such as a abstaining from meat, or solid foods, or even other activities such as abstaining from games, TV and a host of other activities.

There are many forms of fasting: religious (as mentioned above), medical (referring simply to a period of time when the body is without food), or even political, where it is used as a weapon to make others acquiesce to their demands, as in the case of Gandhi, the leader of the Indian revolution, who went on a hunger strike to promote, among other things, the prevalence and adoption of the tenets of ‘Ahimsa’ or non-violent opposition.

Brad Pillon, the author of the book, Eat Stop Eat, takes the concept of fasting and its effects, and applies it to the practice of weight loss, giving us a program that is so simple that it can be used virtually anywhere, and with a minimum of expense at that, promising that ‘this book will turn everything we know about losing weight onto its head’.

Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training.com says, “This book will question everything you've ever been told about eating for fat loss” Powerful words coming from one of leaders of the weight loss industry.

Apparently Brad Pilon has found a holy grail of sorts, and testimonials have begun to pour in already. Here’s what one satisfied user had to say:

I went from 245lbs in the middle of July to 185 lbs today November 7th. Only about 3 and a half months and 60lbs!!! "Eat Stop Eat" helped me to throw out my bad habits and my addiction to eating and over eating, and adopt a real balanced diet I never thought I would be able to do.” – Chad Fenwick

Eat Stop Eat may well be the latest attempt to make sense in an industry that seems to be riddled with shady information that only lightens one’s pocket rather than reducing weight, but the jury is still out on the long term effects of the proposed diet.
